Measuring instrument in chemical laboratory for handling liquids with high accuracy. It is only capable of measuring an exact capacity with a degree of tolerance, i.e. with a minimum/maximum level of error.
The shape of the container is flat-bottomed and pear-shaped with a long and thin neck. The neck has a screened line, which indicates the volume of liquid for that instrument.
The level line is calibrated with distilled water at 20 °C and allows the volume to be determined and measured with high accuracy.
The capacity of the flask is stamped, and also the manufacturer's mark and the batch number.
It is supplied with a certificate and the batch number.
Conforms to ISO 1042.
Available in different capacities and in clear and amber glass colours.

It is distinguished by its very good chemical resistance to water, salt solutions, acids, bases and organic solvents. It is only attacked by hydrofluoric acid and, at high temperatures, by strong bases and phosphoric acid. Low coefficient of linear expansion.
