Conical Flask for Vacuum Filtration
The vacuum filtration flask is a laboratory vessel designed for collecting liquids during solid-liquid separation processes. Manufactured from borosilicate 3.3 glass, it offers excellent chemical and thermal resistance, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments.
Available in different capacities (1,000 ml, 2,000 ml and 5,000 ml) with standard male ground joints (40/38 and 50/42), ensuring compatibility with other filtration system components. The 1,000 ml and 2,000 ml models are graduated for easy volume reading, while the 5,000 ml version is not graduated.
Its conical design provides optimal stability and efficient flow management during filtration, making it an essential component in vacuum setups.
Application and Use
Filtration is a process used to separate solid particles suspended in a fluid by means of a filter. It can be carried out by gravity or under vacuum, the latter being the most efficient method in laboratory environments to accelerate the process and improve particle retention.
Membrane filters retain particles according to their pore size, measured in microns (µm), where 1 µm equals 0.001 mm. In microfiltration applications, vacuum systems are used in combination with high-precision membranes.
A complete glass vacuum filtration system typically includes the following components:
• Conical flask with male ground joint: collection of filtrate
• Filter base with porous plate and hose connection: filter support and vacuum connection
• Membrane filter: separation element
• Metal clamp: assembly fixation
• Glass filtration funnel: introduction of the fluid
The connection between components is achieved using standard ground glass joints or rubber adapters, depending on the system configuration.
