Borosilicate Glass Properties

  • Chemical Resistance: Borosilicate glass offers high resistance to water, saline solutions, acids, bases, and organic solvents. However, it can be attacked by hydrofluoric acid and, at high temperatures, by strong bases and phosphoric acid.

  • SiO2 (Silica): 80%
  • B2O3 (Boron oxide): 12.50%
  • Al2O3 (Aluminum oxide): 2.40%
  • Na2O (Sodium oxide): 3.80%
  • K2O (Potassium oxide): 1%
  • Fe2O3 (Iron oxide): 0.30%
  • Thermal Qualities:
  • Linear Expansion: Coefficient of 3.3.
  • Transformation Point: 534°C.
  • Anneling Point Upper Limit: 550°C.
  • Anneling Point Lower Limit: 494°C.
  • Maximum Working Temperature: Up to 500°C.


Chemical Resistance Levels according to International Standards:

  • Hydrolytic Level: Class 1, according to DIN 12111 ISO 719.
  • Acid Level: Class 1, according to DIN 12116.
  • Base Level: Class 2, according to DIN 52322 ISO 695.
