Parafilm® M is a plastic paraffin film with a paper backing, mainly used in laboratories. Parafilm paper is a sheet of semi-transparent, flexible, water-resistant material used as a moisture barrier for healthcare instruments or equipment. It is highly ductile, malleable, waterproof, thermoplastic, odourless and transparent.
It is used to seal or protect the contents of containers from moisture and air contamination, but it tends to decompose on exposure to air and light and therefore does not serve as a long-term sealant.
